Proverbs Princess Lessons: A Devotional for Little Girls

Do you ever wish you could grow up to be a princess?

Draw a picture of Princess You. What kind of things would you do as a princess? How does a princess act?

The book of Proverbs was written by wise King Solomon for his sons, who were real princes. It told them how to act like princes, and what to look for in a princess wife.

King Solomon tells his princes that there are two different ways to live. One way leads to a royal, happy life. The other way leads  to a very sad life, lots of trouble, and a bad end. No happily ever after for the foolish person who takes the wrong path!

Good thing the Bible has princess lessons for us to help us know which way to go!

Princess Lesson 1:Pedigree

Proverbs 1:7 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

What does it mean to “fear” the Lord? Does it mean we are scared of God? I think it has more to do with knowing who we belong to.

I want you to remember these four things today:

1. God made me and everything else

2. Since God made everything, He is the Boss.

3. I am not the Boss.

4. God is a Good Boss who cares for me.

In olden days, people used to have charts, called pedigrees, to show what important people they were related to. The considered themselves pretty special if they had a duke or a lord in their family.

You are a child of the King of Kings. You are special because you belong to God. The one who created  the whole universe calls Himself your Father. The Smartest One has a better plan for your life then anything you could ever think of.

Jesus explained this with a story about a shepherd with his sheep. Sheep don’t know a whole lot so they have to listen to their shepherd. The shepherd is a lot smarter and stronger than the sheep and is able to take good care of them. We can rest and be happy in the fact that Jesus calls Himself our Good Shepherd. We can obey God knowing that He is bigger and better than anything and He knows the best way.

To think about this some more:

Read or sing Psalm 100
